The Frontier Development Program for Genome Editing

Activity

On Saturday, March 19, 2022, the International Symposium AY2021 was held online by the Hiroshima University's Doctoral Program for World-leading Innovative & Smart Education, "The Frontier Development Program for Genome Editing," on the theme of "The Front-line of Genome Editing Technology."

The symposium, which aims to accelerate the research activities in our program and related research projects in Japan, invited two outstanding researchers working at the front-line of the field of genome editing: Professor Toni Cathomen from the University of Freiburg, and Associate Professor Sangsu Bae from Seoul National University College of Medicine. They offered lectures on the latest research and development trends and the current situation and challenges relating to practical application. Following their lectures, the students enrolled in this program gave research presentations in English.
The symposium was attended by more than 50 participants. Lively questions and answers were exchanged to share cutting-edge research and development trends related to genome editing.
