The Frontier Development Program for Genome Editing

Activity

On December 8, 2022, Hiroshima University held the fourth seminar in the advanced science seminar series on the theme "Developing a Future Society with Genome Editing." Dr. WATANABE Kenshi, Assistant Professor (Special Appointment) in the Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life, delivered a lecture entitled "Improvement of lipid productivity of Aurantiochytrium sp. by genome editing."
Approximately 70 participants attended the seminar, and the event was hugely successful. Some of the positive feedback we received included:
"The topic on the research aimed at commercialization in industry was very interesting."
"I had no knowledge about genome editing on Aurantiochytrium before, so I learned a lot today."

The Hiroshima University Advanced Science Seminar "Create the Future Society with 'Genome Editing'" will be held by the faculty members in charge of the Frontier Development Program for Genome Editing of the WISE Program to widely inform the society about this program and genome editing technology. The series is planned to comprise four seminars. Details regarding subsequent seminars will be provided on the website of the Frontier Development Program for Genome Editing and through other media. We look forward to having several people attend the seminars.
